Run Forrest. Run.

I'm back on my running feet again.

The last time I ran for exercise was almost two years ago. Several weeks into through training the Couch to 5K program, I suffered a stress fracture on my right foot. I quit running and it took months for my foot to heal. Who would have thought that a tiny fracture could hurt for so long?

Fast forward to now and I wanted to get back on my feet. Thanks to geniuses on TB, I learned that I needed better shoes and they suggested a professional shoe fitting.

The price tag was a chunk to swallow but DH was nice enough to fork over the cash for a new pair of Brooks shoes.

I can't preach to you enough about how big of a difference these shoes have made. I'm back on the C25K program and as soon as I finish this blog post, me and the big furball are going to complete the first week of the program.

Since the last time I ran, they have created a C25K app which logs your distance based on GPS, time, and speed, all while provided voice prompts of each day's workout.

Here's the overall program breakdown. Just like any new workout, the first day was the worst. It burned and I was sore like a beat horse the next day.

  1. Good for you for getting back into C25K. It pays to stick with it (if your body will let you)! I am really glad I did it. Any 5ks planned for when you're done the program?

  2. This may be weird because we don't know each other IRL, but I'm kinda proud of you! You're taking a big step forward and you're doing it in such a smart way (C25K program + good shoes). Go you for a great start!

I'm a TOTAL running nerd, so I have to ask you about your Brooks :) What kind? How do you like them? I have a few pairs of Brooks. Pure Cadence and Ghosts are currently in my closet along with a few others. I love them!

    1. Thanks for the support! I am really enjoying it so far!

I got brooks pure connect 2. They were the first pair I had tried on after the girls on TB recommended brooks. They felt like a glove on my foot, especially around my arch. I have a high arch and I think that was my problem before. I've never had shoes that fit my entire foot so well. They're lighter and won't last as long but the bulkier shoes just didn't feel as good.

    2. Enjoy them :) I feel the same way about my Pure Cadence's. It feels like I'm not wearing shoes which I love. I just have to be careful that I don't overdo it in them, because my ligaments are so accustomed to my heavy trainers (I also have a pair of Mizuno's that I love, love, love for long runs).

    1. You should try it! It's not as hard as I expected. The first day is the toughest just because it's a mental shock to doing something different. If I can do it, almost anyone else can. I hate to run. I mean, I loathe it. Who wants to get sweaty, breathe hard and hurt their body on purpose? But as soon as it's over, it feels so awesome.
